Kidnapped for the Weekend - 5/21/2016

Let's flash back real quick to my 2016 Resolutions: 1 Month Check-in post where one of my "still working on this" items was to take risks.

YOU GUYS. I DID IT. I TOOK A RISK AND I DIDN'T DIE. OR FAINT.
OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN TERRIBLE.

In fact, I had one of the most amazing weekends of my life.
AND my boyfriend said "I love you" after a gorgeous 2 mile hike to a waterfall.
#IsThisRealLife?

The Set Up | Soo there's this guy (who also happened to start reading my blog recently, AHEM, so I'm going to insert a mushy "You're the best, babe" one-liner in here). Anyway, this guy, also known as Kevin, is my literal counterpart. I like to adventure, he likes to adventure. I want sushi, he wants sushi. He wants a movie night in, I want a movie night in. You get it. BUT Alyssa likes to plan... like seriously plan... and Kevin does not. Don't get me wrong he is a planner but he's also super spontaneous.

And it's freaking awesome.

All I knew was that we were going somewhere for the weekend and that I was getting debriefed on Friday night. Get your mind out of the gutter... we're talking about planning here.

Since me scheduling anything was out of the question, Kev took the lead. It killed me all week not knowing where we were going or what to pack so I honestly did every single piece of dirty laundry in my house including blankets and sheets. You just never know. I had an entire suitcase, a purse big enough to be another suitcase, my memory foam travel pillow and my Chacos and I was ready to roll.

The Action | We left from Charlotte, NC early Saturday morning (of May 21 - yes I'm super late writing this, I know) after dropping the pup off at his favorite pet sitters'. As I suspected after the "pack clothes you'd be comfortable in" hint during my Friday night debrief, we headed west towards the mountains. I like to think I'm some master detective and based on context clues and hints (this is how they solve mysteries, right?) I assumed we were going to Asheville, NC. WRONG! Sort of. Well kinda. At least for the first day.

8 Waterfalls, 5 overlooks, 4 breweries and 3 cities later...

We were tired, happy, exhilarated, refreshed, and in L-O-V-E all at once.
